Election 2019 – North Norfolk deserves a caring council

May 2nd is Polling Day and your opportunity to elect a Liberal Democrat council for North Norfolk.  Read on for information on our core policies.

Liberal Democrats will make sure that residents are put at the heart of everything the council does. That means listening to, engaging with and consulting you to ensure that we’re  delivering on the issues that matter most to your community.

With your support a Liberal Democrat run District Council will:

Reach out to local communities

We believe it’s time for communities to be listened to and will survey residents every year to hear your views.

Work cross-party to get things done

We believe in putting politics to one side and will work cross-party to deliver the best outcomes for you and your family.

Protect our area’s special character

Climate change protestNorth Norfolk has a unique character, which is why we choose to live here.We believe in protecting it for future generations and will increase recycling rates, clean up our streets, plant more trees and tackle climate change. Liberal Democrats on North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) will put a motion to the next Full Council meeting declaring a Climate Emergency

Invest in new, affordable homes for local people

Housing.jpgSince taking minority control of the Council we have set up a new property company with an initial investment of £2 million to address local housing needs by building homes specifically for local people, whilst also generating a future revenue stream to support the building of more affordable homes on an ongoing basis.

Support public transport

Support initiatives to improve transport for people to work, attend school and access leisure facilities by allocating £33000 to the Community Transfer Fund

Support business

Support budding entrepreneurs across the District, and create a new business start-up hub to support those who want to work here.

Benefit the maximum number of residents through a sensible budget that:

  • allocated £30000 to fund the opening of public conveniences throughout the year,
  • funds the Sports Development Team for a further year,
  • supports Cromer Museum
  • Improves roads.
  • Ensures responsible financial management.
