Karen Ward, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats in North Norfolk has welcomed a December General Election, and the chance build on the legacy of Sir Norman Lamb MP.
Over the past few weeks since her selection, Ward has combined her work as a business adviser with meetings and events in the North Norfolk constituency. She has spoken with local entrepreneurs, farmers, transport chiefs and educationalists. She stood in for SirNorman at the recent Great Norfolk Climate Debate in Sheringham organised by the Norwich-based climate charity CHAIN. And she has been out with her door-knocking teams speaking to residents across North Norfolk. Lib Dem volunteer numbers have soared following a surge of interest after last night’s parliamentary vote calling for an Election. Ward’s professional skills, having managed projects for multi-nationals and government departments, stand her in good stead for a political career. This began in 2016, when she was elected District Councillor for the Glaven Valley. Karen lives in Sheringham, and is strongly committed to climate change action, social housing, people-led town development and sustainable rural communities.
Karen says,“I will fight for decisive action to protect our environment, tackling the climate disaster we are building for the next generation. I relish the chance to represent my home county in Westminster.”
Sir Norman Lamb has said, “It has been a privilege to serve North Norfolk as local MP for 18 years, and I am delighted that Cllr Karen Ward is standing to succeed me. It has never been more important that North Norfolk has a strong local voice, and I will be doing everything I can to help get Karen elected in the coming election.”
