Lib Dems fail to hold North Norfolk constituency.

Lib Dem Karen Ward challenges new MP for North Norfolk to keep campaign promises.

Liberal Democrat candidate Karen Ward has congratulated Conservative Duncan Baker on his election as MP for North Norfolk. Ward says she will continue to work for North Norfolk as a District Councillor and to fight for liberal values and public services in North Norfolk.

“Our former Lib Dem MP Sir Norman Lamb has set a very high benchmark in his tireless work for our constituency. He has been a passionate champion of the NHS, mental health, schools, environment and social care. I will continue to work in the same tradition, and will be challenging new MP Duncan Baker to keep firmly to some of his campaign promises." These include:

  • Actively taking on local casework (neglected in neighbouring constituencies)
  • Putting North Norfolk first and refusing to be a party ‘yes-man’
  • Fighting for mental health care provision

“It is disappointing not to win this time, and not to be able to fight for these and many other issues in Westminster. But we fight on for a fair, caring, open society.”
